Hometown Heroes, continued..

Image
Even though I grew up in Southern California, having lived in the Sacramento area for more than a decade I also consider this my hometown. Sacramento has a rich history in skateboarding, and there are  tons of local skaters killing the skateparks and streets out here.  Tristen Moss is one of them.    By the way, if you are ever in town go to the 28th and B skatepark and look at the pyramid he ollies  at 2:00. It's inconceivable that someone could make it when you are standing on it in person..

History Lesson..

Another week, another injury. This time my back. Feeling better now, but this is starting to get annoying. Anywho, while my friends were out skating this last Sunday (bastards), I took it upon myself to head down to the California Museum on O street in Sacramento where they have an exhibit on the history of skateboarding going on. I had my camera and took a few pics, check it out; Lance Mountain, Christian Hosoi Hammerhead, Rob Roskopp, and a Tommy Guererro... damn, that's some lineup. Was expecting to see a lot more of the 80's stuff, but they had a good collection going. Original Mark Gonzales board second from left. It was great see that they had some more current stuff as well...although they left out the 90's entirely.. Can't remember what the story is with this board. Obviously, it says the first Zephyr board but is it the prototype? Wish I had paid more attention to the details here.. Overall, a really good exhibit. I went in with the expect...

WTF??

Crailtap's been posting clips of the Girl team in Sac the last few days. Sort of eerie that I live in this town and could have crossed paths. I think I was going to go to this spot the day before they aired the first one. I have no idea where the spot is for the second clip, but the third  one is this crusty old bank that is kind of fun to goof around on. Would be perfect but there are chunks in the ground before the run up and I have done exactly what Omar Salazar does as he's riding up before.  The latest one  (clip five) is at this spot where we take a box and skate sometimes because it's covered, (it rains quite a bit in Sac over the winter), and I was really surprised to see it on here. That ledge they are skating used to have a piece of that fiberglass stuff they have at skateparks so it didn't grind that well. I'm going to have to go back there and take a look if someone put a metal edge on it....  Anyway, just interesting to see that such good ska...
