On the heels of the Jason Dill interview over at Chrome Ball.... Have to admit I've never been a major Dill fan, although I've always admired his skating. Good to get a bit more insight into his personality. Dude is funny! Anywho, he mentioned bringing back the veneer stained mulit colored boards like H-Street used to have then goes on to mention "Not the New H-Street" video which has always been hands down one of my favorites. Which brings me to the point...one thing that I've thought has been missing in skating for a long, long time is the pairing of Classical Music with skating in videos.. not to sound too much like a prat, but to me this really is a great combination. To illustrate my point: Works really well with the slow motion. Can't leave out this part! RIP.. Also, have something really special planned for later this week or early next week so be sure to check back. You won't want to miss this.. Did Miley Cyrus really try ...

Anybody out there had skate-setup madness? I went through a phase within the last year or so where I became extremely, for lack of a better term, OCD about my trucks. It became a total obsession to where if it wasn't exactly the way I wanted, I had to figure out what wasn't working. I ended up buying and going through several sets before finally settling on Indy 139's. When all was said and done I took a pic with my phone to document how ridiculous I had become; I recently had the same issue with wheels. I went down to skating 50mm Bones which allowed for great control but felt like I was going too slow. So I upped it to 52mm Spitfires but that felt kind of clunky, I tried 51mm Bones, which also didn't feel right, and ended up back where I started with the 50mm's. I'm hoping that this will be where I stay as all this fussiness adds up to a lot of money being spent. We'll just have to wait and see.. Oh yeah, Happy belated Birthday to Sal Barbie...

One of my favorite skate photos/ads ever.. Damian Carbajal shot by Daniel Harold Sturt. Anyone know where he disappeared to? Had some great footage in not the new H Street video, and then...? Team photo 1991. R.I.P. Mike Ternasky Mike Carroll's first pro board.. Koston wasn't pictured in the team photo but came across this one while looking for other H Street pics. Speaking of Koston...how about that Game of Skate ? Ron Allen front board rockin' those Limpies.. So hyped this guy still skates. 50 years old and going strong. These last two are not really the best representation of H Street's legacy, but what the hell.. I'll be starting the first of 10 posts on the evolution of the skate shoe next week. It won't be exactly chronological but will start from oldest to newest. I was going to say "Cheers", but then I thought of the tv show, which was set in Boston... damn.. See yo...
It's getting Frosty up in here..

In honor of Koston's Epicly Later'd, figured it would be appropriate to have a post with some of the key players mentioned... Never knew about the relationship between Eddie Elguera and Eric Koston until these Epicly Later'd episodes came out... dude seems like a really down to earth guy. ..always loved the timelines that H-Street did in their ads.. and that's a switch front blunt, in 1991. Been looking for a reason to plop this one in here. Alphonzo Rawls, amazing skater who by the way posts some great stuff on Instagram. Do I really need to say who this is? The one and only Natas Kaupaus. The man himself..caught myself thinking about the 360 flip noseblunt at the end of his Yeah Right part the other day. Still amazing nine years (!) later. Really looking forward to future episodes, including how the transition to Girl went down..

The most imitated skater ever? Everything this guy did was just classic. From the chain wallet to the hunched over style...makes you wonder where he would be at if he kept going. The last trick of his Plan B career was a 540 caballerial..which we just saw in the new Girl/Chocolate trailer..hmmm.. Wouldn't mind stopping by the Flying Elephant next time I'm in SD.. Kind of a rushed deal, but this might have been the funnest post I've ever done.
Only one way to do it..

I don't know how I missed this H Street ad when I was putting together that other D Way post, but I don't feel right carrying on without including it now. Blows my mind how after already having a lengthy, successful skateboarding career he introduces the world to the Mega Ramp in the DC video and leaves everyone scratching their heads.. Kind of makes me wonder what he's got in store next..

I realized that I had a couple of things scanned that I had not put up yet so here you go. Just an old Jovontae Turner Thunder ad I came across. I had an idea to do a whole post on Daniel Harold Sturt which is why I've had so many black and white photos on here but couldn't find any photos that I felt did him justice. There's got to be a website out there or a book on this guy. If not, there should be. I also liked this ad for the Carroll photo in the bottom right. And before I forget, just watched this Supra tour video and was so stoked on all the legends in there. Penny, Muska, Stevie, Boulala (although I'm not sure what tricks he does). Super inspiring.
